and Reintegration in Rwanda (CFC).
From
Correctional Facilities to Communities: Empowering the Social Rehabilitation
& Reintegration Process of Current and Former Released Inmates in Rwanda is a two-year initiative
(January 2026–December 2027) implemented by Prison Fellowship Rwanda in
partnership with the Commission Episcopale Justice et Paix (CEJP) and
supported by Hope Bearer Foundation (Hoffnungsträger, Germany).
The
project is being implemented in eight correctional facilities across Rwanda Ngoma,
Rusizi, Gicumbi, Nyamagabe, Huye, Musanze, Muhanga, and Bugesera and seeks to
strengthen the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of current and
former inmates through improved psychosocial well-being, civic responsibility,
community support, and economic self-reliance.
Through
community healing initiatives, mental health awareness campaigns, reintegration
dialogues, vocational skills training, and programs that strengthen family and
community connections, The project also promotes collaboration among
correctional authorities, government institutions, local leaders, civil society
organizations, genocide survivors, families, and community members to create a
supportive environment for successful reintegration. By fostering personal
transformation, social cohesion, and sustainable livelihoods, the initiative
contributes to building safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities across
Rwanda.
